Describing his passion for photography as having been born out of ‘the realisation that I couldn’t paint’.
Having photographed bands in and around Liverpool and Manchester, he went on to study photography at Nottingham Trent University before earning himself a job assisting acclaimed Rock photographer Denis O’Regan. With the opportunity to cover events such as Live 8 and Download festival, his portfolio and passion for the rock and roll world of music photography grew until he was hooked.
Still living in Nottingham, and now working as a freelance photographer, ever grateful for opportunities to combine his love for travel and snowsports with commissions for fashion and ski magazines. An interest in disabled sport sees him working on a project to document the run up to the 2012 Olympics in London, including a documentary on Richard Whitehead – a double amputee world record breaking marathon runner – which is set to mark his emergence into the world of the moving image.
Music photography however, remains an important and much loved part of David’s career. His own shots of some of the finest acts from across the globe continue to dazzle, but his technical knowledge and expertise now see him regularly assisting countless agencies and photographers in getting their images onto the wire, and out to the world.
